Experimental Investigation Into the Perception of Simultaneously Psudoscopic and Orthoscopic Holographic Imagery

November 29, 2007

In this project I created a set of reflection holograms with dichromated gelatin plates. Each plate contained two images, one pseudoscopic (going inwards) and the other orthoscopic (coming out). After showing all of these holograms to a test group I found that in every single case the viewers strongly percieved the pseudoscopic image while only being able to make out the orthosopic vaguely. When the holograms were flipped the same thing occurred despite the ortho and pseudo images changing places.
